video: Nemasi the lion and cubs on a kill
Category: General, Lion-watching | Date: Jul 24 2008 | By: Seamus
A few hours ago I went out to check on Nemasi and the cubs. Here’s some video footage. I had to drop the frame rate so as to get the file small enough to upload, so my voice sounds a bit odd.
And here is some more footage. Nothing spectacular, just nice to watch. If I had a better microphone (eg. “fluffy” the furry one) I could have got some nice feeding sounds.
They moved off the carcass, and I had a chance to have a look. Any ideas as to what this is? I cut the sound to the clip because I made a fool of myself trying to explain things...

It looks like a baby oryx. Is that right? I just remember seeing footage of the lioness that adopted the baby oryx. It looks like the same kind of animal. Lisa

Hey there, nice video. You indeed sound if you are coming from mars. We will bring fluffy, and new baby fluffy. I might have a spare mic with xlr input. Can your camera handle that?

The animal head is my favourite part… a puzzle.
I think it probably is a baby Oryx. I thought for a while it might be Eland but than changed my mind. Perhaps I’m just too lazy to go and look up the dental formula. The black marks below the eye make me think its an Oryx.
2L - yeah. we can do an xlr input on this rig. Looking forward to some good bloggable footage…
