More onlion tracking

I flippantly mentioned that our tracking site for Ndelie is the only one of its kind that does close to real-time tracking, online, available to the public. It seems that this is not true… I urge you to have a look at Desert Lion Conservation and look at their tracking page. The format is slightly different but the layout is very clean and easy to use. I worked with Flip a while ago, and his research is really solid. if you have a chance, browse around the rest of the site. The findings are clearly laid out, and the images are superb.
Much fieldwork to be done tomorrow folks… so watch this space for photos when I get back tomorrow evening.

Hi Seamus, I know it’s not lion tracking but I use Google earth to track Polar bears. It’s offered by WWF, you download the KMZ file module which is opened in Google Earth and it shows you the different paths taken by the polar bears. You can see where the polar bears were on a particular date or animate their movements over the past few months. It’s similar to your lion tracking site for Ndelie but instead of a webpage it opens up in Google Earth
I have no knowledge on how to make a KMZ file but you can find some information here

Hi Seamus, one more question is that Flip from the documentary The Desert Lions ? He had a big bushy beard, wore shorts, T-shirts and walked around barefoot all the time. I watched that, I thought he was great, an amazing documentary about the desert lions. Thanks for link, I’ll check out the Desert lion Conservation website
